Janika Schmitt is a fellow at the Institute for Progress, focusing on biosecurity and pandemic preparedness.

Janika is a fellow at the Institute for Progress, and a final-year medical student at Charité Berlin. Previously, she worked on an early detection system for future pandemics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, researched antivirals at the University of Cambridge, and worked as a Research Assistant in global health and psychiatry. Janika's work and studies have been supported by an MD fellowship of the German Center for Infection Research and the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.
