He previously worked for Senator Michael Bennet and clerked for the Senate Judiciary Committee. He has an MS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, and a Juris Doctor from George Washington University, where he was a George Washington Scholar and served as Articles Editor on the George Washington Law Review.
