Janet Egan is the Director of Emerging Technology Policy at IFP, where she leads work on AI, compute and innovation policy

She is also an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Center for a New American Security, where she formerly served as the Deputy Director of the Technology and National Security Program.

Previously, Janet was a director in the Australian Prime Minister's Department. She was a member of the Prime Minister’s taskforce on critical technologies and the inaugural Director of Policy in Australia’s Office of Supply Chain Resilience.

Janet holds a master’s degree in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and a bachelor of arts from Monash University.
