Christopher Elmendorf is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at IFP and a Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of Law at UC Davis. He currently uses doctrinal and empirical methods to study property and land-use, elections, and administrative law.
Chris is a leading authority on California land-use and housing law; he’s also done widely noted work on public opinion about housing markets and policy. His research has been published in numerous top law and political science journals and been covered by major media outlets including The Atlantic, The Washington Post, Financial Times, Bloomberg News, and CalMatters.
A graduate of Oberlin College and Yale Law School, Chris clerked for Judge Guido Calabresi on the U.S. Court of Appeal for the Second Circuit before joining the UC Davis faculty.
